AIR is a brand new Amsterdam-based club with international allure that will open its doors to the public on April 29th. AIR is built on legendary grounds (Amstelstraat - previously iT's location). AIR will astonish its guests with diverse programming, its attention to service and an interior to die for. Dutch designer Marcel Wanders conceptualized AIR's interior. His multidisciplinary design created a theatrical and intimate setting sure to stimulate AIR's guests. The unique atmosphere in each of the areas in the building is evident from the moment you step through the door and is carried throughout from the bars to the dance floor.
Even though AIR is a large club with a maximum capacity of 1300, the objective is to create an intimate atmosphere, whether there are 100 or 1000 guests. The club is partitioned to maintain this feeling throughout. This intimacy is of the utmost importance. AIR strives to make its guests feel at home, allowing them to break free from the shackles of everyday life and dance the night away. AIR represents tolerance, diversity, creativity, quality and freedom. AIR focuses on the 'club feeling.' Clubbing is primarily a social happening and this has been taken into consideration when designing the club. AIR continuously surprises and excites its guests by combining music, design, communication and fine arts. AIR is a place for everyone, from underground to upscale.
The musical programming of AIR is diverse. Vertical programming allows for a clear distinction between the days of the week so that the guests know what to expect on any given day. Thursday will be a House night with an electronic touch and an accessible and easy-going nature. Friday will be a night with more underground streams of tech-house and techno, featuring external partners & promoters as well as in-house productions. On Saturday AIR will collaborate with Radio 538's program, Dance Department. National and international artists give acte de présence. Both international and national main and support acts put a distinctive stamp on the night. 'On AIR' is recorded and broadcast once a month nationwide on Radio 538. The other Saturday nights will be broadcast live as of midnight. The Sunday programming varies, featuring a wider musical range: from hip-hop through disco to house. External partners primarily produce this evening. It ranges from gay nights through 80s & 90s to exclusive black tie events. Detailed information about the programming can be found on www.air.nl.
The team behind AIR is made up of a group of people who have left their mark on the Dutch nightlife and have now put their passion for and love of social events into this new and exciting project. Every square centimeter of the club has been thought through to create the most unforgettable experience for the guests. Unique electronic lockers are available at the spacious entrance to ensure guests can store their personal belongings safely and efficiently. There are 3 restroom groups, 5 bars and 2 smoking areas, each with their own design and atmosphere. AIR is the first club in Benelux to have the state of the art VOID ACOUSTICS sound system.
